April 16th 2011 Abandoned Mansion outside of LA County 1400 hours
Zak sat on the cement steps of an abandoned mansion that was on the outskirts of LA County. He had gotten there the previous night, holing up there before the sun had died and the undead came out to walk the streets.
Now with the sun up the streets which were littered with old cars and trash were barren of any living creatures. By Zak's side was a small 9mm Beretta, however this Beretta had a few unusual pieces added on to it. For one it had a barrel off of an old sniper rifle and two it had the grip of a shotgun. An interesting piece to say the least but it still worked.
Rising from his seat Zak left the home and headed towards his old weapons factory, his last place of employment. It had become abandoned during the Outbreak but thankfully the zombies had left it more or less alone afterwords.
Zak moved as quickly as he could along the street. Some of the survivors he had seen would rather rob you than talk to you, and he didn't want to get caught up in yet another fight.

Kyle had been in Los Angeles a few days before the outbreak, in the area for a convention of veterinarians. The outbreak of course had caused a chaos among the air traffic systems, many airports and such being shutdown in an attempt to quarantine the problem. Trapped in a area unfamiliar to him Kyle made an attempt to survive. At first he had gone from office building to office building, using the size of the skyscrapers to stay secluded from most of the swarm that flooded the streets at time. Luckily, just a few days after the outbreak Kyle was able to find a computer and use its still functioning internet access. Using this sure to be expired commodity Kyle happened to check for a package to check its status. By a chance of sheer luck its last known location was at a shipping warehouse in the same city, the outbreak having delayed it.
So Kyle had gone to retrieve it, thus how a handmade katana, fully battle ready, hung at his side, the scabbard tapping noiselessly against his dirty trousers. Kyle knew however that a sword alone would only serve him so much, a ranged weapon of any kind would be better then nothing. Firearms was not something Kyle knew as well as swords, so it took him quite a while to figure out where he might obtain some. The place he had finally stumbled upon was a old weapons factory. Searching through the many weapons Micheal had taken a hunting rifle and a handgun of some type, Kyle not being exactly sure of what they were. He had began to search for ammo that would work with his newly acquired weapons, though his lack of knowledge made it very difficult. Taking a break from his search, Kyle placed the appropiate amount of money he thought would cover the costs for the weapons he had taken onto a desk that seemed to be a office of sorts. Sitting down and happening to gaze from a window of the factory Kyle spotted Zak approaching the building from a fair distance away.
Taking a moment to observe his gait Kyle determined that the individual was not a Walker, or a zombie as Kyle called them. In a way this relieved the man, it had been quite some time since he had any sort of peaceful contact with a human. Standing in the middle of the window to make himself visible Kyle waved to Zak.

Food food food. Goddamn she wanted food. Where the heck was that good old Albertson's, Wall Mart or something? Oh right, not for another two blocks! Stomach growling, Cira ran down the street intersecting the street which Kyle and Zak were about to encounter each other on.
Some days, she didn't like to drive. For now, her truck, which she was ever so grateful she still had, was hidden in a safe place. It was still running reasonably well, and it thankfully wasn't due for an oil change yet. That was a noisy task she did NOT look forward to doing now, even during the day. Cira couldn't help but wonder when this town would run out of its gas supply.
Cira was restless, and she wanted her exercise. She hummed/sang a random USMC military Jody called "Mission top secret, destination unknown" to keep herself in high spirits.
"In the middle of the night in the drizzle and rain, I packed my chute and I ran to the plane. Mission top secret destination unknown, We dont know if we're ever comin home. Stand up buckled up shuffled to the door, Jumped right out and shout MARINE CORPS! If my chute dont open wide. I've got another one by my side. If that chute dont open round. I'll be the first one on the ground!" she sang, not giving a damn if any zombies heard her.
A backpack swung on her back as she held onto the straps with both hands, running into the intersection. Running up, climbing, and then over a random parked tan Chevrolet SUV from front to back after she sang some of those lines, she zipped past Kyle in the opposite direction, barely noticing the sheath of the sword as she went by.
The 34 year old Marine wore long sleeves, likely hiding make shift weapons in them, as well as some guns in her cargo pants pockets, two 500 magnums and even more random stuff in her backpack. She had binoculars strapped to one of her other side pockets, as well as a military issued Camel Pak hooked up to the backpack.
HOLY SHIT! Another human?! Or did that zombie just have a sword?! No, it had to be human. Here she thought she and Tony were among the few left! She spun around on her heels, swinging to an immediate stop after leaping over the parked SUV. It was only then did she catch sight of Zak moving towards them. "Holy shit, non-zombies?!" she asked, some several long strides away from Kyle now, with quite a surprised look on her face. It had been a good day or so since she'd seen humans other than Tony. She was certain Zak wasn't a zombie either because of the weapon he carried. "I thought me 'n Tony were one of th' few!"

At first glance Zak thought the figure waving at him was a zombie, then he almost immediately corrected himself. It couldn't be a zombie...why would zombies wave? ... unless they were twitching perhaps.
Keeping his eye on the waving figure, Zak took out his gun, making sure to keep it at the ready. No one could gain his trust easily and for all he knew this person was going to try and kill him before robbing his corpse.
Off to the right Zak saw something moving. A quick glance over and Zak saw it was a young lady who was doing something akin to Parkour from the look of it.
Taking his time Zak took the long way up to the factory, but once there he eyed the young man intensely, as well as the young woman. "Okay...the two of you aren't zombies but who the hell are you?!" Zak demanded to know.

Kyle was surprised for two reasons, the first being the arrival of the young woman. The second Kyle knew he shouldn't be surprised about but still was; the tension in the man he was now face to face with. He himself had felt a great amount of stress in the following time after the outbreak. Thus Kyle decided to ignore any rudeness from the man.
"Well I suppose I'm just like you two, just trying to survive." simply replied Kyle, shrugging. He mad sure not to let his hand rest on the handle of his sword, doing this in an attempt to be as non-threatening as possible. To help also with this he put on a smile, warm and sincere. Kyle had to admit that he himself was surprised he could still smile in such a way after all that had happened.

"Call sign's Tex, y'all can just go by that fer now." Cira replied. There was no need to be formal, especially around two decent-looking men she barely knew...in 'zombie-land'. It didn't matter she was supposed to be professional anymore, so who cared what name she used? Besides, the call sign was from her times as a Marine, so technically, that counted. Her stomach growled again, almost audibly."Shush you!" she said, lightly punching her gut. Cira glanced back at the...rather good-looking men and grinned in a cheesy manner.
"Sorry. No need ta be tense, I'm not gonna try ta jump y'all, dunno about you two. Though if I knew ya had any food that might be a different story." Cira chuckled. She turned around and began to 'march' away, her steps confident. "Onwards to the nearest Wally-world or whatever else." she didn't care which 'showed up' first, she just wanted food, even if she had to kill some zombies in the process. She'd get creative with the killing if she wanted, that was for sure. She often had pleeeenty of motive when she was hungry, though unfortunately her temper sometimes got in the way.

April 16th 2011 Nearby House Humans, a group of them. It was a rather astonishing sight to see after four months of seeing nothing but those damn mindless zombies. The brunette haired teenager sat on a near by roof, watching the group closely. She felt that she would be a bit more secure if there were actual people around, that way if she got into some trouble, someone could possibly turn around to help. Eleanor looked at the group of people from her rooftop view, having no binoculars it was hard for her to actually tell who was who amongst the group, however it was always easier to pinpoint who the zombies were, they were the only ones who would actually purposely run into objects, back up and then move to the side a little bit and run into it again. Something had caught Eleanor's eye, a zombie was on the approach towards the group. She looked closely at the zombie, because it was actually a fairly long shot, she carefully creeped down from her highest perch on the roof, and got as close as she could get to the group. The young girl was dressed in a pair of long camouflage pants, along with a white button up shirt and a black jacket and a pair of Ariat cowboy boots. She was also carrying a normal sized school backpack, stuffed full of things she needed, mainly water and a few candy bars to hold her off until she made it to a Wal-mart or Target. The girl perched herself on the edge of a concrete wall, she reached her arm behind her back and pulled out a arrow, decorated with two black feathers and one yellow feather, tipped with a razor sharp broadhead. "Aim for the head..." She said to herself as she steadied her foot placement and positioned the arrow on its shelf. She could not miss this shot, otherwise it would mean injury for the woman in the group. She carefully pulled back the bow string until it met her anchor point, she took a few moments to make damn sure that she wouldn't hit the woman in the group, and then she released the arrow. The flight of the arrow was straight, like a dart being thrown at a target, the arrow glided over the top of Cira's head and collided with the un-noticed incoming zombie's skull, hitting it straight in the forehead. Eleanor sighed with relief that she didn't hit the woman's head. She stretched her arms and then carefully, she put the bow in a position on her back. The string crossing her chest firmly and the bow sitting comfortably on her back, leaning on her backpack so it wouldn't fall. Then carefully, she hopped off of the concrete wall and landed on the ground below. She checked both ways before she first went to retrieve her bike, which was leaning against the side of the concrete wall and then advanced towards the group, she needed to retrieve that arrow, she'd need it later on to kill another zombie.

~Tense she says!~ Zak thought to himself. He eyed the two of them for a few more minutes before he pocketed his weapon. He didn't necessarily trust the two of them but at least it was a gesture of good faith on his part.
When Zak heard the young lady's call sign he fought hard to keep a straight face. Tex?! Who in their right mind would want that as a call sign?! Thankful that he was able to keep a straight face after hearing that, Zak eased his way past the two people.
All of a sudden the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end; something was coming. Grabbing his gun, Zak whirled around to face the two survivors, but his attention wasn't on them, it was on the zombie that was slowly making it up the hill towards them.
Taking aim, Zak was seconds from firing when the zombie dropped down dead; a single arrow having penetrated the zombie in between the eyes. How the hell could the zombie have gotten that close to them without being noticed by any one them? And more importantly where had the arrow come from? Judging by the trajectory the arrow would of had to come over the young lady's head before impact with the zombie, so whomever the archer was, was a really good shot.
Gun still in hand Zak approached the downed zombie. There was never just one zombie around, they always traveled in pairs, sometimes there were three to four. Reaching the zombie Zak looked at it first to make sure it was dead before he eyed the surrounding area.
"We should get inside; more will be here soon...especially after nightfall." Zak said to Kyle and Cira.

"True enough." said Kyle, somewhat calmly despite the fact of the zombie and its sudden death. In a way he had gotten use to it, otherwise he wouldn't have lasted long since the outbreak. "Though in a way Tex here is correct, we need food to keep up our strength. If we are to camp together tonight then Tex here and myself can go find food and bring it back." Looking at the fallen zombie the man's face grew somewhat grim.
"We'll need the food if there is a siege. If a swarm is not far behind this zombie then we might be up for such a siege. And if there isn't a siege..." Kyle shrugged, his smile coming back to his face. "Well then we are just extra prepared."
"I do apologize if the proposition of teaming up for now is sudden and unexpected but its healthy to have some significant human contact, plus we can sleep more soundly if we know others are keeping watch while we do sleep. Plus if we do go search for food maybe we can find the person who did us the courtesy of disposing the zombie here."

Tex had only heard just some of Zak's words before the arrow whizzed RIGHT over her head. What the heck? An arrow?! She didn't have much time to reflect on that part of her surprise as her body reacted to the situation. Whipping out a Smith and Wessen 500 Magnum secured to one of the leg pockets in her cargo pants. Her aim and initial reference point to the direction the sound came from was surprisingly accurate for one being focused on food just moments before. Her heart racing, she aimed out of pure reaction at somewhere between two o-clock and three o'clock high, Cira caught a glimpse of a feminine figure jump off the wall belonging to the building.
Her eye brows furrowed as if focused and slightly irritated with a reactionary 'don't fuck with me' look on her face, Tex's eyes and gun cautiously trailed over to the bike that she could only somewhat see, it wasn't that far away from the Suburban she had 'run' over earlier.
"Hmf, I can agree to that," Tex snorted, still focused on the movement. "OY!" she called across the street, her voice carrying with ease. "Show yerself arrow trigger!" it was a random name/description, but what the hell.
She turned back to Kyle, tucking away the powerful gun, making sure it was on safety. "Look, I don't care if y'all follow, I'm more than capable of bein' on my own. Food is my main objective. If I find useful shit along the way, I'll be collecting it, but I'm travelling light for now." Cira wasn't about to tell them she had probably one of the most awesome trucks around, no WAY she was going to let it get hijacked. She couldn't trust them THAT much yet to reveal that fact.

Showing herself wasn't going to be a problem, she had to get that arrow either way. She's gonna attract more of them if she hollers anymore. She thought to herself as she increased the speed of peddling on her bicycle. Eleanor wasn't quite sure what she was going to do if they wanted to talk to her, they probably wouldn't want some troublesome teenager around in a group of adults. Like the other survivors that she had met, Eleanor figured they would try to rob her of what she had. Within a few moments, Eleanor had almost reached the group, she decided to park her bike at the curb and walk the rest of the way.
Upon parking her bike, Eleanor also removed the Winchester 30-30 Break action rifle that was sitting comfortably between the handle bars. With her bow hoisted to her back, she quickly brought the gun up, holding it carefully within her grasp as she approached the group. The noticed that none of them were aware of that zombie, so she had probably done them either a big favor, or really annoyed them. When she got within talking distance, she didn't really know what all to say other than, "I'll take my arrow and leave ya'll alone... She figured that she would not be welcome by these strangers, simply because she was a much younger person. Even from just a glimpse, one would know that she was about fifteen or sixteen years old.

Zak eyed Cira coolly. He didn't particularly appreciate her attitude but to his credit he didn't say anything. "Food can be found at the old grocery store; just watch out for zombies." Zak said to Kyle.
When the young girl came out and conversed with Cira, Zak had paid her little mind until she made the remark about leaving. "Look, there's safety in numbers, but I know that none of us know each other from Adam...okay? I get that. This place here," Zak indicated the factory, "May not look like much but it's got a lot of secrets; hiding places, ammo, weapons, designs for weapons...after working here I have learned a great many of those secrets, so I know for a fact that if we had to defend ourselves here, that we would have a good chance for survival."

"Secrets eh? Hm..." she glanced at Eleanor for a moment. "Never said any of you couldn't follow 'any of us'." she turned more directly to Eleanor. "But girlie, frankly, ya just scared the frak outta me with that arrow, don' see those very much of late. That's all." Cira said to her and Zak.
"Anywho, yes, safety in numbers is better, but the question is, can we put up each other?" Cira knew some people didn't like her simply for the fact that she was a noise box, and other times was oddly quiet if a serious streak kicked in. Right now, she was restless and damn hungry, but her mood was improving, at least. "I got plenty a' weapons, trust me on that. I always welcome more explosives though, so makin a trip ta whereever this one works at could be beneficial to us all, that is if he's willin' to lead the way. How close is it to the grocery store? I was just gonna go straight to the grocery store, but this here stomach can wait a bit if y'all agree to some new objectives first." Cira did have A snack with her, so at least she wouldn't starve completely if she did go somewhere else first. "If any of us needa return a favor ta seal a deal, well as far as I'm concerned, I can um...teach people Parkour?" she offered.

While the others had been talking Kyle had grown quiet. His face grew very grim. When Tex had finally stopped talking Kyle spoke, his voice heavy with the seriousness of the situation he realized was soon to befall them.
"Well whatever we do we better do it soon. Listen." With those words Kyle again grew silent, his eyes cast towards the ground as he concentrated on listening. Any that also listened intently would be able to hear a faint moaning, audible thanks only to the slight breeze that carried the sound to them. The man didn't need to but he did state the obvious. "A horde is on the move, and I have a funny feeling that its coming in our direction."
"My opinion? We should get some food and prepare for a possible siege." It was then that Kyle remembered what Tex said, a offering of services to help cement good relations. Maybe he too could do the same. "Oh and if any of you are in need of medical attention I can offer such services." Kyle decided to not mention the fact that he hadn't actually given medical attention to a human in quite a few years. He also hoped dearly that he wouldn't have to perform surgery, that was one thing Kyle wasn't sure he could do. He doubted that the others would so eagerly allow him, a stranger into their innards though so he took solace in that thought.
Kyle could only hope though that he would get along with these others. It was hard to maintain a group of people in peacetime. With the stress that this outbreak had caused and was still causing...It could be disastrous. Kyle would do though what he could do. Putting on a brief but serious smile Kyle spoke again. "As I said though we better hurry. Time, as always, is of the essence."

Eleanor paused for a moment as Cira spoke to her about how she was simply startled by her arrow, "My apologies, I did not mean to surprise anyone. I just thought that being a help to any other remaining humans would help." She walked past Kyle and Zak as Zak talked to Cira and Kyle about the factory, she wasn't quite sure if he was talking directly to her or not, since the three were already previously met up. Eleanor stopped just before she reached the dead zombie, making sure to look it over and make absolutely sure it was dead, and then she leaned forward and pulled her arrow out of the zombie's skull with one hard pull. One the blood covered arrow was pulled out of the skull of the dead zombie, she carefully reached the arrow back and put it in its respective holder along with the other arrows. When she heard all three of them mention some food, Eleanor knew that she could help them out there.
"I have some water bottles and a few candy bars in my bag if you guys need something to hold yourselves over until we find a store." She looked over towards Kyle as he indicated the approaching moan of a larger group of zombies. She looked around in all directions and gripped her rifle's handle tightly. "I agree with him, we need to gather some supplies and find a way out of this city." She looked over towards Kyle, who she could tell he was trying to keep the peace between survivors, which was a hard thing to do. "My name is Eleanor....By the way."
